animated title Welcome to the
Imaging Service Center

The independent gold hunter
T he Imaging Service Center for Northern California Libraries is an LSTA (Library Services and Technology Act) -funded project administered by the Mountain Valley Library System in Sacramento, CA. Its purpose is to allow regional libraries access to quality digitization and to develop useful and consistent standards for digitizing and for recording searchable data to access the resulting images.

The project provides wider use of and preservation of little-known but historically important materials, a service libraries have up to now found difficult to offer. It will also test the feasibility of the service center concept, while helping to develop standards for and to further the growth of the Library of California.
